NAKO Helps to Organize the Corruption Prevention Course
On Wednesday, October 24th, NAKO representatives met with Colonel Olena Golota, Head of the Scientific Centre on Building Integrity in the Defense and Security Sector, to discuss organizing the Corruption Prevention Course for the managers at the Administrative Office of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the General Staff.
The Course aims at revealing the key problems relating to corruption risks in the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. For example, the speakers will talk about preventing corruption due to changing approaches to fighting corruption in the weakest in terms of sensitive and cirruption tisks in the activity of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine. The Corruption Prevention Course will be organized by the Scientific Centre on Building Integrity in the Defence and Security Sector of the Chernyakhovsky National University of Defence. The event will take place in November, 26-28. The Independent Defence Anti-Corruption Committee is the co-organizer of the Course. The parnters include the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Transparency Ukraine, the Chernyakhovsky National University of Defence, NATO office in Ukraine, the US Embassy in Kyiv, and the Norwegian Centre for Integrity in the Defence Sector (CIDS). During the event the representatives of the Committee and the Secretariat of the Independent Defence Anti-Corruption Committee will present the folllowing reports:
  • «Corruption Challenges in Ukraine: Impact of Corruption on the Perception of Ukraine abroad»,
  • «The Key Problems of the Defence and Security Sector: NAKO's View»,
  • «The Key Corruption Schemes in MoD's Real Estate»,
  • «New Approaches to the State Defence Order».

The Scientific Centre on Building Integrity in the Defence and Security Sector of the Chernyakhovsky National University of Defence (hereby - the Centre) helps implement the anti-corruption policy of the government and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The Center operates due to the support of the Ministry of Defence of the Great Britain. The Centre's key mission is the integrity building and increasing the awareness of the employees and service men/women of preventing corruption. In particular, in terms of personal behaviour and corporate culture.   The Centre is engaged in the following activities: 
  • Organizes lectures on integrity building and preventing corruption in the defence and security sector;
  • Carries out research, including the analysis of the attitude of the society to the problems of corruption in the defence sector and the possible ways of preventing corruption;  
  • Helps develop projects of the anti-corruption regulatory acts.
The Centre actively cooperates with Ukraine's state authorities and international organizations which deal with defence issues and fighting corruption. Namely, with NATO and Transparency International (and its office in London, UK, which studies the corruption risks in defence and security sector).  The Head of the Center is Colonel Golota Olena Petrivna, Associate Professor.
