The reform of the United Nations is urgent - Olena Tregub

The reform of the United Nations is urgent. We need to do something, we need to unite the efforts of all the world. NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub is convinced of this.

“The small country Ukraine involved in genocide war by big country which ia a member of security council and we can do nothing about it. The invader is chair of the council”, she told the Indian TV channel WION.

Russia has taken the presidency of the UN Security Council despite Ukraine urging members to block the move. Each of the council's 15 members takes up the presidency for a month, on a rotating pattern.

“Russia demonstrated so many times despiece all institutions that were created as a result of the Second World War and despiece the current world order. And now Russia does it by being able to chair the security council of the UN”,  she explained.

“We should instead of believing Russians' claims that the whole world is absurd and the world order is not possible just use the opportunity now and listen to voices of many of those smaller countries of the world that say that we need to reform the United Nations. We need to  make it more fair and more balanced”, Olena said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov  warns about global risks. And it is the typical Russians tactic, Olena Tregub added.

“They speak about big problems in the world and they basically use this problem just for advantage and they include this problem. For example, global world hunger. We know very well that it is a huge problem for the world. And Russia is the source of this problem. Because they created this problem by blocking Ukrainian sea ports and exports. This is one example. Another example is the proliferation of nuclear weapons and conflict. Russia warns about all those problems and is the creator of them”, she noted.

Russia wants this global crisis to increase. Russia wants the world to basically disrupt in order to get something for herself: new territories, time for maintenance of the authoritarian regime that Russia has. So, the world has to understand what Russia does and put more forceful efforts, NAKO Executive Director told WION.
